I'm super liberal and I hate her. There's this guy at work who listens to Air America (no objection there) and finally I had to make change the station when this woman come on. She's so arrogant and she screams her way through half the show. I can't believe she's the 'star' of that station. Her show is awful, she's an egomaniac, and she does a disservice not only to liberals but sensible political debate as well.

Hard to believe that this supposed 'conservative' political talker didn't even know whether Bush had suspended Davis-Bacon. Yeah, it is a big deal. The government is handing out billions of dollars to cronies and yet they are only paying the remaining poor along the Gulf Coast $5 an hour for construction work? It's both stupid and corrupt. I happen to love Air America! The Republicans are essentially the “American Taliban”. They have succeeded in pulling the wool over most of the America’s eyes. Until Air America came along, I longed for the days when people like Frank Zappa would publicly attack the Jimmy Swaggert’s and Pat Robertson’s and all those other filthy G.O.P. corporate cock-suckers! So now we have a voice of opposition, an outlet to push back. It’s a good way to get other people to pay attention to what’s going on. Mike Malloy is my favorite! To the Randi (NOT Rhandi...what the fuck is that?) haters above: I kind of understand. KIND of. When I was first listening to Randi, it seemed like she was loud, obnoxious, shrill, etc. And later, I came to understand that she WAS (or at least bordered on) all of those things. But that's kind of the act, part of what makes her not NPR material (thankfully--NPR's awful)...it's talk radio, for god's sakes. She's an all-American Brooklyn girl. If she's loud, she's loudly speaking truth. If she's obnoxious, she's being obnoxious in the service of America. If she's shrill, she's being the kind of shrill that I and many others wish that we could be--sounding the alarm that something's POWERFULLY WRONG HERE.

God bless her (and when I say "god", I do so atheistically). She's going down in the books as one of the true patriots of the era. (Along with Michael Moore, who's just "so fat and disgusting", according to WAY too many "Democrats".) Politeness does us no favors in the current insanity that is the US. Look, I applaud Ms. Rhodes for having a successful radio show. She is a good example of where hard work and determination(and a strong opinion) can get you. What I see being celebrated though is her utter contempt and disrespect for an opposing view. It is sad to me that we encourage her bad behavior and ridicule the grandma for wanting to be polite and civil.(please note I am not trying to defend her silly actions either) But unfortunately that's the society we live in. The death of decency and moral clarity. Whatever you think about Randi, she puts out many things people don't hear about. Earlier she nailed that bitch to the wall when she tried to get her to answer a yes or no question about whether Bush repealed the Davis-Bacon act after Hurricane Katrina. Parshall would not answer the question and kept doing like she did in that clip, which was using sarcasm and condescension and never once address anything Randi said. It very much reminds me of the shit kids pull when evading the truth. Janet is great example of the typical conservative who claims everyone against them "has no leg to stand on" when they are clearly painted in a corner. It seems that none of the people like her can ever admit they are wrong when they clearly are, instead, they would like claim you are in you are in your "last throes" of your argument :)

I am FIRMLY on the pro-Randi side. She's a trouper, she spends four hours a day ON the air and at least eight hours preparing, she ALWAYS has not just the facts behind the top of the news, but she gets the background and the subtext. I don't care if she screams at some callers, some of 'em deserve to be yelled at. She takes calls from people who disagree with her, and from people who think she's stupid and dangerous. Rush Limbaugh just wishes he had half her balls.

When our moods match, which is most of the time, I listen. When I need to give it a rest, and she's on a tear (she's not always), I turn off and go for a walk.

As a Canadian (who gets the privilege of living in a 3 party system where debates get to happen in shades of grey, rather than in black and white), I just can't figure out how your country gets ANYTHING done, when all you do is reach for emotional arguments. I say this because facts and figures can mean whatever you want them to mean (the conservative was right about the number of diverted terrorist attacks, the liberal was right about the disapproval rating of the President by New Yorkers). Where they were both wrong is in thinking that these facts alone support their positions as morally right. We live in a complex world, with complex questions that require complex answers in shades of grey. Each side can find facts and figures that support their view, and each side can rally its troops with those facts to shun the others. BOTH sides arguments break down in the end, and it all just turns to noise - as it did in that clip.

It is the tragedy of our times that your country conditions its citizens to think in black and white.

And like a remake of a sad movie we've all seen before, the rest of us can only sit back, grab the remote, and some tissue as we watch the one about yet another empire falling.

(When the "Republocrat" party emerges from the ashes of it all, maybe I'll consider immigrating down there - if you haven't blown me up by then, that is.)

Here's the thing--I've never heard RR vehemently argue against a true opposing view, but she always takes on what passes for an opposing view these days--non-fact-based opinion. And this is what it's really about--a country who for the past five years has made to suffer this awful Rove-created "new reality" in which the facts DO NOT MATTER. But it's really, really hard to create a decent reality, and Rove's baby is looking kinda poorly of late.

If we are fighting terrorists in Iraq IN ORDER to be safe at home but then there are terrorist threats at home anyway, it hard to feel that we are safe BECAUSE we are fighting in Iraq anymore.

And everytime there is a terrorist threat here, I keep thinking there has to be a better way to keep us safe. Cause if there ever was another attack, most of our first responders and national guard are overseas. I worry THAT is what makes us unsafe. And the fact that Bin Laden is still out there scheming and plotting and everyone seems to have forgotten about him. Why is that??? Why damn it!!!! Don't people care if he's apprehended anymore? Capturing Bin Laden is one of the best ways to make our country safer, after all he was the person who caused 911. It's like our country has the memory of a gnat!! AGGGHHHHH!!!

She also had a point about NY. According to sources the subways were supposed to be hit on Sunday...it was a done deal...so these guys are going to keep plotting. The problem is you can't go to a physical war with an ideaology woven into an invisble enemy. That's one reason we couldn't patrol Vietnam. It is the same here. The best we can do is try to promote a stable Iraq, supply them with weapons and train an army (sound familiar), and hope their government remains loyal and fights the cultural war for us.

Although your theory would explain Bin Laden absense from our war on terror, there is one BIG reason why it ultimately doesn't pass muster. They could never reveal after the fact that Bin Laden was dead. How exactly would they explain that?
